SImon Birnstingl at Steyning Post Office urging young people to vote in WSCC elections

Labour candidate for Bramber Castle Simon Birnstingl is calling for a big turnout at the local election so that voters can show support for young people who he says have been ‘badly let down’ by Tory-led West Sussex County Council.

“I am focussing on young people at this election as they have had to make huge sacrifices as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. They have been badly let down by the Tories with cuts in education services and mental health support, poor rural transport and lack of bus subsidies and no affordable social housing.”

Mr Birnstingl has been a parish councillor in Beeding for 16 years. He has helped restore a community garden as well as cricket and football pitches. He’s on the biodiversity committee of Greening Steyning and understands the urgency of real climate action and other pressing environmental issues.

He says: “We owe it to young people to get out and vote at the election to support policies that will give them a better future. Turnout is often low in local elections yet we can make the most difference locally. I would urge people to register for postal voting and commit to vote now to see the change that is needed.”

Simon is standing for Labour in an area that covers Steyning, Bramber, Upper Beeding, Ashurst and Woodmancote. If you want to find out more about his campaign email him at [email protected].
