I was born and raised in London, and have proudly called Arundel my home since 1997. After earning my degree from the University of Warwick, I pursued a diverse career path that included travel, professional roles, and ultimately, a passion for education. I qualified as a teacher and spent five years teaching in London before relocating to Sussex, where I continued my career in education—teaching in Steyning and Shoreham, and collaborating with three local universities on their Teacher Training Programmes.
My commitment to advocacy and fairness led me to become an active member of the National Union of Teachers (now the Education Union), where I served as a Union Representative for several years. I have also been deeply involved in local politics, acting as a Party Agent in the most recent General Election and standing as a candidate in previous local elections.
Since retiring, I have remained dedicated to serving my community. I volunteer as a Citizens Advice Bureau counsellor, work with the Sussex Wildlife Trust as a coppicer, and chair the Arundel Community Land Trust. Through these roles, I recently contributed to delivering the first social housing for local people in Arundel this century. Additionally, I volunteer with Sanctuary, both as a teacher and in helping to run a local football team.
My Priorities
My focus in local politics is on addressing the pressing needs of our community. I am particularly passionate about:
– Housing: Ensuring affordable and accessible housing for local residents.
– Education: Improving educational provision, with a special emphasis on supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in our schools.
– Public Transport: Advocating for better, more reliable public transport options.
– Infrastructure: Tackling everyday concerns like potholes and listening to the voices of those I aim to represent.
I am committed to working tirelessly for the people of Arundel, and I would be honoured to represent your interests and make a positive difference in our community.
