Roger Pask spent 56 years in public service – mainly in education, first as a teacher and then headteacher for 25 years in urban state comprehensive schools, followed by a career as a leadership consultant and facilitator for the National College of School Leadership (which he helped found) and University College London.
Roger is a lifelong supporter of Labour but is reluctant to be counted as a politician as such. Rather he relies on a passion for social justice and fairness, truth, integrity, kindness and compassion – believing in the unique worth and dignity of all human beings.
If elected Roger will want to focus strongly on education in the County – especially the worth of giving every child the best start in life possible, focusing especially on Early Years. Believing in the power of human connection and community he would support improvements to public transport services and comprehensive improvements to road conditions and would strive to make democracy real in our County.
He abhors cultures of blame and division, aiming to persuade everyone to take responsibility and shun destructive attempts to profit from fear and hatred. Only by working together does he believe we can address the challenges of our time – locally, nationally and globally.
