The South Downs National Park was a main reason that I moved to West Sussex in 2019. I previously lived and worked in West London where I chaired a community organisation for 20 years that worked with the local authority to deliver what was, at the time, the biggest new park in London for over 100 years. I am passionate about safeguarding and enhancing quality green spaces.
The local frustration and impact of the extended stalemate over the future of The Angel Inn site is palpable. As I write this I am aware that there have been recent meetings to seek a way forward. If elected this is a priority that I will put considerable energy into.
A huge strength of our Midhurst community is the number and range of voluntary groups that contribute so much. If elected I will do all I can to support these groups. The photo was taken in front of the South Pond which is superbly looked after by the volunteers of the South Pond Group.
Midhurst, Harting and Rogate are all affected by the scourge of unrepaired potholes and pavements. I will do all I can to ensure that these are given prompt attention.
One of the key values of the Labour Party is a commitment to social justice and equality. The provision of quality affordable rented housing is an outworking of that commitment. I particularly want to see local people prioritised in receiving access to affordable housing.
I am a semi-retired Baptist Church Minister. I am married with three grown up and married children, five grandchildren and a dog which I enjoy walking in this beautiful area.
